Calif. Toyota Suits Should Be Coordinated: Judge

Law360, New York (May 26, 2010, 11:42 AM EDT) -- A Los Angeles judge has recommended that personal injury and economic damage lawsuits in California state courts over unintended acceleration in Toyota Motor Corp. cars be coordinated in one proceeding.

Following an hour-long hearing Tuesday in the Los Angeles Superior Court, Judge Carl West said he would tentatively order the cases be coordinated for discovery purposes, attorneys who were present at the hearing told Law360.

Judge West's recommendation must be approved by California Supreme Court's Chief Justice Ronald George, who will also determine which state court...
