9th Circ. Kills 'Big Pimpin'' Suit Against Jay-Z, EMI

Law360, New York (July 23, 2010, 5:03 PM EDT) -- A district court was right to snuff out a copyright infringement suit brought against Jay-Z and EMI Music Publishing Inc. over a composition allegedly sampled in the rap anthem "Big Pimpin',” a federal appeals court has ruled.

A three-judge panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit on Wednesday affirmed the lower court's decision to dismiss Ahab Joseph Nafal's infringement claim for lack of standing.
