DMX Wins 1st-Of-A-Kind Blanket License From BMI

Law360, New York (July 28, 2010, 6:18 PM EDT) -- DMX Inc., a provider of background music services for restaurants, bars, hotels, retailers and other businesses, has won an adjustable fee blanket license from performing rights organization Broadcast Music Inc. that purportedly justifies its strategy of directly negotiating with music publishers.

Judge Louis L. Stanton of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York issued an order Monday that recognized the licenses DMX has secured directly from music publishers as an appropriate benchmark for setting license fees.
