States, Municipalities Get Tough On 'Wage Theft'

Law360, New York (August 24, 2010, 2:50 PM EDT) -- In March 2009, the U.S. Government Accountability Office reported that the U.S. Department of Labor’s Wage and Hour Division has for years "left thousands of actual victims of wage theft who sought federal government assistance with nowhere to turn." Labor Secretary Hilda Solis has made reversing this trend a major initiative of the DOL, and employers have been preparing for increased federal enforcement of wage-and-hour laws.
