US Joins FCA Suit Over Food For Troops

Law360, New York (January 6, 2011, 5:23 PM EST) -- The U.S. has intervened in a False Claims Act suit accusing a principal Army food vendor of overcharging for rations delivered to troops in the Middle East, joining a parallel case to its criminal indictment against the supplier. 

In its complaint filed Wednesday in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia, the federal government accused Kuwait-based Public Warehousing Co. K.S.C. of overcharging for perishable and local market-ready items, and scheming with wholesale food vendors to inflate prices reported to the government.
