ConEd Settles $4M Fee Battle Over 9/11 Repairs

Law360, New York (January 11, 2011, 7:31 PM EST) -- Consolidated Edison Inc. has agreed to settle its fight with Empire State Development Corp. over $3.7 million in legal costs ConEd incurred while recovering insurance money to pay for rebuilding an electrical substation destroyed in the 9/11 attacks.

Terms of the settlement between the utility and ESDC — which is in charge of distributing a $783 million fund created by Congress to pay for rebuilding utility infrastructure in Lower Manhattan — were not disclosed in the order, issued Friday in the Supreme Court of the State...
