Court Rules Fla. Law Can't Stop BofA Convenience Fees

Law360, New York (January 18, 2011, 7:33 PM EST) -- A Florida appeals court has ruled that Bank of America NA may charge convenience fees for cashing checks drawn on its account holders despite a state law purportedly barring the practice.

The District Court of Appeal of the State of Florida, Fifth District issued a ruling Friday affirming the dismissal of plaintiff Leah Britt's case against the bank for charging $5 to cash a payroll check, drawn on an account her employer maintained at Bank of America.
