AAI Seeks Close Scrutiny Of Google-ITA Deal

Law360, New York (February 18, 2011, 6:44 PM EST) -- The American Antitrust Institute has urged the U.S. government to seriously consider challenging Google Inc.'s planned acquisition of ITA Software Inc., finding that the deal could be a step toward Google becoming an "unregulatable monopoly."

In a white paper issued Friday, the AAI said the $700 million acquisition of the flight information software company could provide Google with significant competitive advantages in the online air travel ticket market that bear close scrutiny by the U.S. Department of Justice.
