Networks Win Shutdown Of Online TV Broadcasts

Law360, New York (February 22, 2011, 5:01 PM EST) -- A host of television networks and movie studios won an order Tuesday blocking Ivi Inc. from rebroadcasting most TV signals on its website, but the defendant has already vowed to appeal the ruling.

Judge Naomi Reice Buchwald of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York granted the plaintiffs' request for a preliminary injunction. Ivi, which previously charged about $5 a month for its television rebroadcasts, shut down much of its service by Tuesday afternoon.
