DOJ Signs Off On Google’s ITA Deal, With Conditions

Law360, New York (April 8, 2011, 2:18 PM EDT) -- Google Inc. received approval from the U.S. Department of Justice on Friday to move forward with its $700 million acquisition of flight information software company ITA Software Inc., as long as the search engine giant takes certain steps to resolve the regulator’s antitrust concerns.

Under the settlement revealed by the DOJ on Friday, Google will have to develop and license travel software at a fair price, establish internal firewall procedures, and continue to fund flight search software research and development in order to ensure ongoing competition...
