Toyota MDL Plaintiffs Can Claim Economic Loss: Judge

Law360, New York (May 13, 2011, 11:08 PM EDT) -- A California federal judge on Friday ruled the plaintiffs in multidistrict litigation against Toyota Motor Corp. have sufficient standing to allege economic harm over sudden acceleration defects in Toyota cars.

U.S. District Judge James Selna denied the automaker's request to toss the economic claims, saying the Toyota owners had alleged enough facts establishing overpayment, loss in value or loss in usefulness with regard to the defective cars.
