Borders Wants To Kick Coffee Habit To Save Money

Law360, New York (May 20, 2011, 8:25 PM EDT) -- In an attempt to save $10 million annually, Borders Group Inc. sought permission from a New York bankruptcy court Thursday to reject the licensing agreement that allows it to operate Seattle's Best Coffee LLC shops inside some of its bookstores.

While Seattle's Best has been profiting from the relationship, Borders has been losing money on royalties and on expensive supplies and products, which it could be getting cheaper from some other provider, Borders said in its motion to reject the agreement.
