Sacramento Bee Carriers Win Class Cert. In Wage Suit

Law360, New York (July 26, 2011, 7:21 PM EDT) -- A California judge on Thursday ruled that 4,000 newspaper carriers can proceed as a class in an action alleging the owners of the Sacramento Bee newspaper misclassified them as independent contractors to deny them minimum wage, overtime pay and other employee benefits.

Sacramento Superior Court Judge Raymond Cadei affirmed a tentative ruling issued in June that both certified the employee class and denied a motion by Sacramento Bee owner The McClatchy Co. to strike the class allegations.
