Microsoft, CBS, Others Dropped From Web Tracking Suit

Law360, New York (August 17, 2011, 8:48 PM EDT) -- A New York federal judge on Wednesday freed Microsoft Corp., CBS Corp. and others from a proposed class action accusing them and Interclick Inc. of tracking consumers' Web usage without their permission because the plaintiff failed to allege the minimum $5,000 in damages.

U.S. District Judge Deborah A. Batts granted the advertiser defendants' motion to dismiss the case on the grounds that it contained no specific claims against them, but denied Interclick's motion in part, regarding two state law claims for deceptive business practices.
