Sharp, Others Settle LCD Antitrust Claims For $388M

Law360, New York (August 30, 2011, 11:37 PM EDT) -- Sharp Corp., Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. and others on Tuesday agreed to pay $388 million to settle claims brought by direct purchasers in California multidistrict litigation alleging the companies conspired to fix prices for thin film transistor liquid crystal display panels.

In addition to the cash payment, the settlement — which also includes defendants Hitachi Ltd., Sanyo Consumer Electronics Co. Ltd., Chi Mei Corp., HannStar Display Corp., LG Display Co. Ltd. and Mitsui & Co. (Taiwan) Ltd. — requires that each of the settling companies cooperate...
