EA Can’t Sack Programmer’s 'Madden NFL' Royalty Suit

Law360, New York (September 29, 2011, 2:52 PM EDT) -- A California federal judge on Tuesday refused to dismiss a suit against Electronic Arts Inc. brought by the original programmer of its “Madden NFL” video game series, who claims EA breached a contract by using his copyrighted code in later versions of the game.

U.S. District Judge Charles R. Breyer rejected EA's argument that the complaint seeking millions in royalties failed to state a claim for breach of contract or fraud and is barred by the statute of limitations.
