Golden Globes Producer Wants Later Broadcast Rights Trial

Law360, New York (November 15, 2011, 6:49 PM EST) -- Dick Clark Productions Inc. on Monday asked a California federal judge to delay the Golden Globes producer’s broadcast rights trial against the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, saying a January trial would distract from the awards ceremony itself, set to air that month.

Dick Clark, which faces a suit from the HFPA alleging the production house overstepped its bounds in negotiating a broadcasting deal based on rights it didn’t actually possess, also says the case is not yet ready to go to trial.
