Authors Push For Cert. In Google Books IP Action

Law360, Los Angeles (December 13, 2011, 4:39 PM EST) -- A writers advocacy group on Monday asked a New York federal judge to certify a class of authors and publishers who accuse Google Inc. of infringing their copyrighted works by adding books to its massive digital library without permission.

The Authors Guild Inc., which filed the motion along with other groups, said the case is “exceptionally” well-suited for class certification because Google holds all the information about its Google Books Library Project that lies at the heart of the litigation.
