FBI Has 4 Arrested In Megaupload Anti-Piracy Crackdown

Law360, New York (January 19, 2012, 6:57 PM EST) -- The FBI on Thursday shut down popular file sharing website Megaupload.com and said four people behind the site had been arrested, amid protests waged by Wikipedia, Google Inc. and others against a pair of proposed anti-piracy bills now being debated on Capitol Hill.

Seven foreign nationals and two corporations have been indicted and charged with operating an international criminal organization allegedly responsible for widespread online piracy of several types of copyrighted works across the globe through Megaupload.com and numerous related sites, according to the U.S. Department...
