'Dream Weaver' Singer Sues Warner Over Digital Royalties

Law360, New York (February 24, 2012, 1:29 PM EST) -- The musician behind the hit single "Dream Weaver" lodged a proposed breach of contract class action against Warner Music Group Corp. on Wednesday, claiming the label routinely swindled artists out of royalties for digital downloads of their music.

In a complaint filed in California federal court, Gary Wright claimed Warner purposely miscalculated royalties owed to artists for digital downloads like MP3 files and ringtones by treating the downloads as sales of physical records rather than as licenses.
