Feds Charge 5 Alleged 'Anonymous' Hackers

Law360, New York (March 6, 2012, 7:27 PM EST) -- U.S. prosecutors on Tuesday charged five purported members of computer hacking group Anonymous with pilfering confidential information from top media companies and government intelligence firms.

The defendants targeted the websites of media giants Fox Broadcasting Co., Sony Pictures Entertainment Inc. and the Public Broadcasting Service, as well as video game company Bethesda Softworks LLC, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York. They also hacked intelligence firms HBGary Inc. and Strategic Forecasting Inc., or Stratfor, prosecutors said.
