Countrywide Says Dukes Dooms Worker Wage Suit

Law360, New York (April 9, 2012, 6:59 PM EDT) -- Countrywide Financial Corp. told a California federal judge on Friday that the U.S. Supreme Court's decision in Wal-Mart Stores Inc. v. Dukes requires her to decertify a nationwide class of employees who claim the mortgage originator's subprime unit cheated them out of overtime.

Countrywide asked U.S. District Judge Josephine Staton Tucker to revoke class status for more than 4,300 account executives who allege Countrywide's Full Spectrum Lending Inc. misclassified them as exempt from overtime, then switched course and instituted a fraudulent back pay program that tricked...
