Oracle Loses Bid To Assert Patent In Google Android Trial

Law360, San Francisco (April 26, 2012, 2:43 PM EDT) -- A California federal judge on Wednesday said Oracle Corp. had received U.S. Patent and Trademark Office approval for a patent too late for it to be introduced in its ongoing trial against Google Inc. over the Android operating platform.

The ruling stems from the USPTO's decision to confirm all claims of U.S. Patent Number 5,966,702 on April 19, reversing its February decision rejecting the patent. U.S. District Judge William Alsup said the USPTO's ruling came days too late, as the trial had already started April 16....
