Hertz, Avis, Others Settle Rental Fee Price-Fixing Suit

Law360, New York (May 18, 2012, 2:06 PM EDT) -- Hertz Corp., Avis Budget Group Inc. and several other major car rental companies reached a settlement on Thursday in a proposed class action alleging they schemed to use a new California law to jack up their prices.

The deal will put to rest long-running accusations that the California Travel and Tourism Commission helped the rental companies agree to uniformly pass along government fees to consumers.
