Gupta Defense Looks To Smother Link To Galleon Founder

Law360, New York (May 30, 2012, 9:04 PM EDT) -- A defense lawyer on Wednesday made efforts to distance Goldman Sachs Group Inc. director Rajat Gupta from allegations of insider trading, suggesting that Raj Rajaratnam, the hedge fund founder to whom he allegedly passed tips, often boasted about phony corporate sources.

Gupta is accused of passing information he learned while on the Goldman and Procter & Gamble Co. boards to his friend Rajaratnam, the founder of the Galleon Group LLC hedge fund company.
