States Want Extended Antitrust Oversight Of Microsoft

Law360, New York (September 11, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Citing concerns over Microsoft's still dominant position in the software market, California and six other states asked a federal judge on Tuesday to extend antitrust oversight of the software giant to 2012, five years past the original Nov. 12 expiration date.

Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, along with the Department of Justice and another group of states led by New York had already agreed to end the oversight period, first established in a landmark 2002 judgment against Microsoft....
