TiVo Sues Cisco Over Alleged DVR Patent Infringement

Law360, Los Angeles (June 4, 2012, 1:36 PM EDT) -- TiVo Inc. on Monday sued Cisco Systems Inc. in Texas federal court for allegedly selling set-top cable boxes that violate four patents covering TiVo's DVR technology, days after Cisco sought a preemptive order invalidating the patents-in-suit.

Cisco's set-top cable boxes incorporate DVR functionality that infringes TiVo patents, the lawsuit said. The devices are used by some of the most prominent cable providers in the country, including Verizon Communications Inc. and Time Warner Cable Inc.
