NCAA, Pro Leagues Sue NJ Officials To Block Sports Betting

Law360, New York (August 7, 2012, 5:24 PM EDT) -- Professional and collegiate sports organizations including the National Football League and the NCAA sued New Jersey officials in federal court on Tuesday to block the state from allowing sports wagering at its casinos and racetracks.

The organizations, which also include Major League Baseball, the National Basketball Association and the National Hockey League, contend that a recently passed law and pending regulations that implement such betting in the state flagrantly violate the federal Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act and also threaten the integrity of their sports....
