McDonald's, Others Dodge Cancer Warning Suits Over Chicken

Law360, Los Angeles (August 15, 2012, 8:05 PM EDT) -- A California judge on Wednesday tossed a consumer watchdog's accusations that McDonald’s Corp., KFC Corp., Chick-fil-A Inc. and other food chains had failed to warn customers that their chicken grilling processes created a carcinogen, ruling the group hadn't met noticing requirements before filing the complaints.

Judge Jane L. Johnson said the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine's noticing was invalid because the group hadn't investigated before filing their suit whether the restaurants had warned their customers about the chemicals. The group sued under California’s Proposition 65 ,...
