Travelers Sues NFL Over Ex-Players' Brain Injury Lawsuits

Law360, New York (August 22, 2012, 7:01 PM EDT) -- Insurer Travelers Indemnity Co. sued the National Football League on Tuesday, seeking to limit exposure to the onslaught of brain injury lawsuits facing the league.

Travelers asked a New York state court to rule that it is not required to pay defense costs in several dozen suits that former players have brought, in which they claim the league should have known that playing professional football would likely to lead to degenerative brain disorders.
