AstraZeneca Sues Ranbaxy Over Prilosec Generic

Law360, New York (August 2, 2005, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Swedish-U.K. drug maker AstraZeneca has sued India’s Ranbaxy Laboratories in New Jersey federal court over its plans to launch a generic version of ulcer and acid reflux drug Prilosec.

The lawsuit, filed last week in the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey, was lodged in response to Ranbaxy’s abbreviated new drug application (ANDA) with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for a generic version of the delayed-release 40 mg capsules of the drug, known under the generic name omeprazole.
