Nike Gets Patents In Uniform IP Fight Invalidated

Law360, New York (September 19, 2012, 9:53 PM EDT) -- An Illinois federal judge ruled Wednesday that a patent held by McDavid Knee-Guard Inc. and Stirling Mouldings Ltd. is invalid, dealing a blow to the athletic apparel makers in their patent fight with Nike USA Inc. over its "Pro Combat" line of college football uniforms.

U.S. District Judge James F. Holderman granted Nike's request for invalidity of all asserted claims of U.S. Patent Number RE42,689, which is the second reissue of the original patent in suit, U.S. Patent Number 6,743,325.
