9th Circ. Upholds $319M 'Millionaire' Verdict Against Disney

Law360, New York (December 4, 2012, 1:52 PM EST) -- The Ninth Circuit on Monday affirmed a $319 million jury verdict against The Walt Disney Co. for breaching the terms of contract with British television production company Celador International Ltd. concerning licensing for "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire."

A three-judge appeals panel shot down attempts from Disney and three subsidiaries — American Broadcasting Cos. Inc., Buena Vista Television LLC and Valleycrest Productions Ltd. — to overturn a July 2010 jury verdict and denied Disney's request for a new trial on Celador's breach of contract claims....
