Palm Says Steve Jobs Pushed Hiring Pact With Patent Threats

Law360, New York (January 23, 2013, 8:08 PM EST) -- Apple co-founder Steve Jobs allegedly threatened to sue Palm Inc. for patent infringement if the company's former top executive didn't submit to a hiring pact whereby both sides agreed not to poach each other's high-tech employees, according to court documents made available Tuesday in an antitrust class action.

In an affidavit filed in California federal court, former Palm CEO Edward Colligan said he rejected Jobs' proposal and responded in an email in August 2007 that such an arrangement “is not only wrong, but likely illegal."...
