Samsung, HTC, Others Duck Antitrust Suit Over NPE Boycott

Law360, New York (January 25, 2013, 7:49 PM EST) -- A California federal judge on Thursday let several Android device makers, including Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. and HTC Corp., escape claims that they violated antitrust laws by conspiring with patent aggregator RPX Corp. to refuse patent licenses from nonpracticing entities.

U.S. District Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers said, among other things, that Cascades Computer Innovation LLC's antitrust allegations against RPX, Dell Inc. and four Android device manufacturers were not plausible, according to a ruling.
