By Gavin Broady (February 13, 2013, 2:07 PM EST) -- The U.S. Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation on Tuesday consolidated nine lawsuits in New Jersey federal court accusing several Sanofi units and Bristol-Myers Squibb Co. of personal injury and False Claims Act violations regarding blood-thinner Plavix, over the plaintiffs' objections.
U.S. District Judge Freda L. Wolfson will oversee the nine combined suits alleging the companies overstated the efficacy of Plavix while failing to disclose the drug's purported risks. Meanwhile, 12 similar complaints in California and Mississippi will remain unconsolidated due to pending motions to remand.
