Ex-NY Pol Jailed For Bribery Admits To Tax Fraud

Law360, New York (March 4, 2013, 5:53 PM EST) -- Zehy Jereis, the influential former chairman of the Yonkers Republican Committee, pled guilty to tax fraud in New York federal court Monday, the same day he surrendered to begin serving a four-year sentence on bribery charges tied to local real estate projects.

Jereis, 41, was sentenced in November on charges he funneled bribes to a former top Yonkers Democrat to approve two housing and mixed-used projects. He chaired the Yonkers Republican Committee from 2003-07.
