Judge Sides With Calif. Over Car Emissions Limits

Law360 (December 12, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- A federal court has thrown out a lawsuit brought by the auto industry challenging California's power to curb vehicle emissions, clearing a major obstacle to the state's proposed landmark legislation.

U.S. District Judge Anthony W. Ishii ruled the state had as much authority as the federal government under the Clean Air Act to set greenhouse gas emissions limits on motor vehicles.

Attorney General Edmund G. Brown Jr. said Wednesday's decision left the federal Environmental Protection Agency as the last hurdle to implementing the proposed law....
