Time Warner Pays $1.4M To Settle Cable Techs' Wage Suit

Law360, New York (March 25, 2013, 2:24 PM EDT) -- Time Warner Entertainment-Advance/Newhouse Partnership and a group of its California field technicians settled a proposed class action Friday for $1.35 million, ending allegations that the cable company failed to pay the workers overtime and other compensation.

Lead plaintiff Marcus Gillespie filed an unopposed motion for preliminary approval of the deal, which covers the class representative payment as well as the putative class' costs and attorneys' fees, saying the settlement is a fair shake for the technicians, who will each receive an estimated average payout of thousands...
