US Open Workers Settle Suit Over Wages, Tips

Law360, New York (May 16, 2013, 3:41 PM EDT) -- A federal judge on Wednesday approved a $600,000 settlement between companies that provided catering and concession services at the U.S. Open and attendants for the event’s luxury suites, who said their employers wrongly took their tips and misclassified them to avoid paying overtime.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Steven M. Gold signed off on the settlement between the attendants, who filed the suit on behalf of a class of all the luxury suite attendants who worked at Arthur Ashe Stadium during any U.S. Open between 2004 and 2009,...
