Madison Dearborn Partners LLC had received some interest from prospective bidders, though none of the offers matched the $2 billion price tag that the Chicago firm hoped to hit. Despite recent revenue increases and a commanding market share for Yankee Candle, the buyout firms that had lobbed lower bids did not see enough growth potential to justify a multibillion-dollar offer.
