Nintendo Can't Escape Wii Controller Patent Case

Law360, New York (May 28, 2013, 3:29 PM EDT) -- Nintendo Co. Ltd. on Tuesday failed to kill a Texas federal lawsuit claiming the Japanese video game giant's popular Wii gaming system ripped off two patents for wireless display controllers.

Though Nintendo succeeded in invalidating some claims of UltimatePointer LLC's two patents — the court ruled they were indefinite — it was denied summary judgment for the rest of the asserted claims, meaning the infringement case against it and a slew of retailers will continue.
