Samsung, Other Tech Giants Escape Java Infringement Claims

Law360, New York (June 19, 2013, 7:18 PM EDT) -- A California federal judge on Tuesday ruled that a host of high-profile electronics companies, including Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd., Nokia Corp. and LG Electronics Inc., did not infringe a pair of Nazomi Communication LLC's Java programming patents.

Judge Ronald M. Whyte granted the defendants' motion for a summary judgment of noninfringement based on fundamental differences between Nazomi's Java-accessing technology and technology developed by ARM Ltd., which served as a defendant-intervenor in the case, known as the Jazelle Revision 3 design.
