EA Wants Verdict Overturned in 'Madden NFL' Royalty Row

Law360, San Francisco (June 24, 2013, 6:32 PM EDT) -- Electronic Arts Inc. urged a California federal judge Monday to overturn a verdict finding that the original “Madden NFL” programmer can pursue breach of contract claims that the publisher stole his ideas for the multibillion-dollar franchise, arguing that his conflicting testimony misled the jury. 

The jury, which held Friday that the statute of limitations had not run out on programmer Robin Antonick's claims, was wrong to rule in his favor because he provided inconsistent testimony during the weeklong trial, according to EA's motion. The publisher asked U.S. District Court...
