Sprint Settles Cable Right-Of-Way Suit

Law360, New York (June 27, 2013, 3:59 PM EDT) -- Sprint Communications Co. Ltd. and WilTel Communications LLC on Wednesday settled a suit brought by a class of Connecticut homeowners who accused the companies of installing fiber-optic telecommunications systems on their property without requesting permission or offering compensation.

U.S. District Judge Warren W. Eginton gave final approval to the deal, which calls for Sprint and WilTel to pay $770,000 in exchange for easements that will allow them to continue using railroad rights of way that lie on plaintiffs’ property. The agreement ends one of several dozen...
