NCAA Slams Treasurer's Standing In Penn State Fines Row

Law360, Philadelphia (June 27, 2013, 6:00 PM EDT) -- The NCAA said Wednesday that the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General had not granted state Treasurer Rob McCord the authority to pursue a lawsuit seeking to keep $60 million in fines levied against Penn State following the Jerry Sandusky scandal.

In a brief filed in Commonwealth Court, the NCAA said that the OAG had the sole statutory authority to collect fines that the lawsuit claims are owed to the state under a recently enacted Pennsylvania law and that the office had not expressly ceded its duty...
