NFL Wins $273M From Online Merchandise Counterfeiters

Law360, New York (July 1, 2013, 1:55 PM EDT) -- A New York federal judge on Friday awarded the National Football League a $273 million judgment against operators of more than 1,000 websites that were selling counterfeit NFL merchandise.

U.S. District Judge Lorna G. Schofield granted the NFL's request for a default judgment against the sites' operators after they failed to defend themselves against the league's lawsuit. The NFL claimed that a group of individuals operated scores of websites that referenced pro teams and sold knockoff football jerseys.
