Toyota's $1.1B Acceleration Settlement Gets Final Go-Ahead

Law360, New York (July 19, 2013, 5:48 PM EDT) -- Toyota Motor Corp. won final approval Friday for its $1.1 billion settlement with a proposed class of roughly 23 million customers over the Japanese automotive giant’s recalls for defects in its vehicles that caused sudden unintended acceleration.

U.S. District Judge James Selna gave his final approval Friday after previously seeking more information about the distribution of settlement funds, though he had already deemed it a “fair, reasonable and adequate,” settlement in an earlier tentative ruling.
