New Scrutiny Looms For Defense-Linked Aircraft Exporters

Law360, New York (September 16, 2013, 2:28 PM EDT) -- Export licenses for many categories of military-related aircraft and components will soon transition from State Department control to the more export-friendly U.S. Department of Commerce, and attorneys say U.S. companies will have to make sure they're prepared to take advantage of the transition without running afoul of ramped-up export enforcement.

The rules take effect Oct. 15 and are the first major step in the government's Export Control Reform Initiative, which aims to overhaul and streamline restrictions on thousands of items that would pose no security risk...
