'Facilitator' For Stop-And-Frisk Reforms Appointed By Judge

Law360, New York (September 4, 2013, 4:40 PM EDT) -- A federal judge on Wednesday tapped the president of a nonprofit justice system research group to spearhead the community outreach component of the court-ordered overhaul of the New York City Police Department’s controversial stop-and-frisk policy.

Vera Institute of Justice President Nicholas Turner will serve as “facilitator” of the community-based process to develop long-term reforms to rein in the anti-crime tactic, according to an order signed by U.S. District Judge Shira A. Scheindlin.
